I am thrilled and grateful to share that my work is now represented by °CLAIRbyKahn, the Zürich based photography gallery. I am doubly thrilled to share that my work will be exhibited by the gallery at the AIPAD Photography Show at the Park Avenue Armory in New York, April 25-28. I am deeply honored to be exhibiting alongside photographic luminaries Inge Morath, Bruce Gilden, and Lee Miller. (Wow, someone pinch me!)
As it happens, the partnership with °CLAIRbyKahn came about as a result of this newsletter. Back in October, I published a post in this forum titled, My Tribalism is Better Than Yours. The post included a number of images from my series about a 1930’s Jewish family in Kraków, Poland, Once Upon A Time In Kazimierz. That post was spotted and then republished by the French online photography journal, L’Oeil de la Photographie. That article was seen by Anna-Patricia Kahn, owner and director of °CLAIRbyKahn. Anna then introduced herself to me by way of a very kind email, which in turn resulted in a number of very congenial and fruitful conversations. And the rest (knock on wood), will hopefully be history!
The new piece above, “The Devil’s Laughter”, is of course inspired by the famous Marc Chagall painting, “The Birthday”. This is the first image released as part of an in-progress series titled “The Great Reconciliation”, in which I dive head first into the universal themes of love, loss, and reconciliation. And as you can see, I am returning to my art historical roots for inspiration. Much more to come on this, in both words and pictures.
